Single-vendor or two vendors — the only decision that really matters.
Single-vendor SASE puts SD-WAN and the full security stack under one control plane. It is simpler to operate, easier to troubleshoot and usually cheaper per user — at the cost of concentrating a lot of your architecture with one supplier.
Dual-vendor SASE pairs best-of-breed SD-WAN with a separate SSE platform. It suits organisations that have already invested heavily in one leg and do not want to write it off, but you own the integration and the finger-pointing when something breaks between them.
There is no universally right answer. The right one falls out of three facts: what you already own and how long is left on it, how large your security team is, and how much of your traffic is destined for SaaS rather than your own datacentre. We put those on one page before anyone talks about product.

Typically: SD-WAN overlay, then internet breakout with SWG, then ZTNA for remote access, then DLP and CASB. Each phase delivers something usable on its own, so the programme survives a budget review.
